Wayne Oakley Care Fund

Wayne Oakley is a man who loves his Savior, loves his family, and brings joy wherever he goes. If you know Wayne, you know his laughter and his willingness to help others at any moment.

In January 2025, Wayne began experiencing seizures, memory loss, and vision problems. What followed was a diagnosis no family is prepared for, a rare form of stage 4 brain cancer known as ROS1 glioblastoma.

Wayne underwent brain surgery at Duke to remove the tumor, followed by months of chemotherapy, radiation, and constant medical care. Despite all of this, the tumor returned within a year, requiring a second surgery.

Through further testing, doctors discovered that Wayne’s cancer is driven by a rare ROS1 mutation that requires specialized treatment not available locally. By God’s grace, Wayne has been accepted into a clinical trial in Colorado that uses targeted medication designed to address this specific mutation.

This opportunity comes with a significant commitment. Wayne and his wife Laura must travel to Colorado once a week for two months, and then continue with monthly visits after that. The cost of flights, lodging, transportation, meals, and time away from work quickly adds up, placing a heavy financial burden on their family.

For the first time in this journey, Wayne and his wife Laura have real hope.

We are asking for your prayers for Wayne and Laura during this time. If you feel led to give, your support will help ease the burden of travel and treatment expenses so they can focus on healing and time together. Please also consider sharing this with others who may want to come alongside them in this journey.
